October 29th from 5-7pm the Village will host their annual Halloween at the Village. This is a family event that helps feed those less fortunate in our immediate area. It is all about “neighbors helping neighbors” as we raise money and gather food for our local families in need.
This year we are again teaming up with the Neighborhood House. We are asking that each child donate $5 or bring 5 non-perishable items as their entrance into all the activities. 100% of the money donated will be given to the charity and Cornerstone Community Financial has committed to matching the funds during the event! In addition, CCF has graciously sponsored the event to bring the community the following great activities:
- Fire Turck Rides with Stan the Fireman
- Bounce Houses
- Pointe Academy Dance Center performing and teaching the Monster Mash
- 10 interactive Trick or Treating stations throughout the Village
- Oakland County Moms doing a giveaway

Mother's Day is just around the corner. And we want to show some moms some love!
Motherhood. It is something that is hard to put into words. We found a quote on Mother (a great online resource for moms) from Kate Middleton. It was perfectly said and we wanted to share with all our moms here celebrating in Michigan with the Village.
“Personally, becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience. However, at times it’s also been a huge challenge. Even for me, who has support at home, but most mothers do not. Nothing can really prepare you for the sheer, overwhelming experience of what it means to become a mother. It is full of complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love, and worry, all mixed together. Your fundamental identity changes over night. You go from thinking of yourself as primarily an individual to suddenly being a mother, first and foremost. And yet, there is no rulebook. No right or wrong. You just have to make it up and do the very best you can to care for your family. For many mothers, myself included, this can at times lead to a lack of confidence and feelings of ignorance. Some of this fear is about the pressure to be a perfect parent. Pretending we’re all coping perfectly and loving every minute of it. It is right to talk about motherhood as a wonderful thing, but we also need to talk about its stresses and strains. It’s okay not to find it easy. And asking for help should not be seen as a sign of weakness.”
-Kate Middleton, a.k.a. The Duchess of Cambridge, on the pressures of motherhood, to Best Beginnings, 2017.
The Village is encouraging you to bring your mom, a mom you respect or a friend that is a mom to the Village. Bring her and share a meal, buy her a gift, get flowers from Whole Foods, pick up the latest candle or lotion, make a card or project togther...or simply just get her out of the house. And then snap a photo of her at the Village (we MUST know it is at the Village for it to count) and post on the Village Facebook page under the post in comments. Tell us what you did while you were at the Village and why you think the mom deserves a gift from us. We will be giving away prizes of all sorts of items from the Village shops and restaurants! But don't wait. You have only through Mother's Day, May 14th to bring your special mom to the Village. So plan your trip now!
