The Village of Rochester Hills La Femme Fall Fashion Show is just a few days away.  I can’t wait to see this season’s fall trends come to life on the runway.  At least, 12 retailers from the Village have been working hard  pulling looks for the show and creating ensembles  with their latest fall arrivals.  If you plan on attending the show, well, you’re in for a real treat.  This year’s fall trends are fun, sophisticated, classy, and hot all at once and I’m going to be there on the runway with the models, showing you how each look will work for you.

Some of the trends you’ll be seeing will be age appropriate for many ages if you can believe it or not.  Also colors you wouldn’t think you would wear, will be featured too.  We all know and love the usual fall colors such as pomegranate , navy, emerald green, grey and mustard yellow. But have you ever worn neon pink or neon yellow? Yes back in the 80’s you say? Well, you’ll be wearing it this fall and when you do you won’t feel like a young Flash Dance fan, you’ll feel beautiful and hip with a classier more sophisticated vibe.  I know it’s hard to believe but watch for these vibrant colors on the runway and you’ll see what our retailers have done to create sophisticated neon in age appropriate styles.

Another hot trend is tweed.  Tweed has, is and always will be a fan favorite.  Tweed keeps us warm, it keeps us stylish and it can stay in our closet for years without going out of style.  This year tweed in either black & white or rich jewel tones will be key and you just may see a tweed jacket two in the show.

Back to school styles will also be a big hit.  Being a mom myself I know the importance of back to school styles and keeping our little ones on trend. Several local little ones have been chosen for the show and they’re going to rock the runway the way school kids do and I have a feeling our hearts are going to melt over their cuteness.

So you see the La Femme Fall Fashion Show is going to be filled with great fun for all ages. Who doesn’t love fashion and cuteness? I know I do! I’ve only touched on a few looks that will be featured, you’ll have to attend the show to see what else is hot this fall from our retailers at The Village of Rochester Hills.  I’m looking forward to seeing you all there.  If you have style questions, don’t hesitate to pull me or one of our store managers aside to ask them.  We are thrilled to have you as our guests but even more thrilled to help you find fall trends that keep you looking and feeling beautiful.

Our own Shelleen McHale popped up today on Fox 2's Style File to review fashions from Ann Taylor, Buckle, Apricot Lane and Francesca's Collections. All of these will be on display this Thursday, August 25th at this years La Femme Fashion Show: Fox 2 Style File

Wedges are a summer wardrobe staple and a fun way to express your personal style.  Wedges in different colors, heel heights and styles are acceptable and choosing a wedge with bright colors or a heel with unique detail will spice up your outfit.  Whether your wedge is a cork wedge, weaved wedge,  a lustrous dark wood or a whittled wood with a spectacular design, wedges will make your feet look like they belong in an art gallery.

Looking for love in high places? The platform wedge will boost your height a few extra inches and will be more comfortable to wear for a longer periods of time. The platform keeps your foot at more of a relaxed, natural position rather than stretching the arch of your foot to a level of discomfort.  If you're one who loves the high arch, choose a wedge with brightly colored straps for a sexier look.  Not into high heels? That's okay too because wedges also come in several modest height options allowing you to be included in the fun.  The next time you visit The Village for a day of shopping, keep your eyes open for a pair of wedges that are right for you.  Several of our stores here at The Village carry wedges and we have a wide range of styles, heel heights and colors to choose from.

Looking to discover a brand new pair of fashionable, comfortable and protective eyewear? Try a pair of aviators. From polarized lenses to UVA or UVB protection, when selecting a stylish pair of aviators you’ll find there are many choices to select from here at The Village of Rochester Hills.

Quite a few of our stores carry aviators of many sizes, lense shades and different levels of protection for the eye. Aviators are acceptable for all ages and for both men and women.  In fact, we’ve seen many couples shop our stores and purchase his and hers matching glasses. They are the hottest accessory right now and we have just what you need to follow the trend.  Below are a few rules to follow to make sure the aviators you choose are right for you.

We are excitred about our latest addition to the Village of Rochester Hills, Hot Mama, recently celebrated their grand opening on May 16, 2012.  The event was a hit and the positive response by our local hot moms was amazing!

During the grand opening, the store was quite busy with women buying dresses for upcoming events, moms trying on comfy linen pants for a day with the kids, and fashionistas mixing and matching favorite pieces from the jewelry table.  The kids that attended had a good time too; all while their moms were having some quality shopping time.

All and all, lots of smiles were shared and the store manager, Anne Weber and the Hot Mama District Manager Jen Ware, were busy styling guests  in the midst of it all. Aside from these two lovely ladies who are assigned to our Rochester location, owners Megan and Michael Tamte have assembled a team of 300 uniquely trained employees who are committed to the company’s core purpose of empowering fashionable moms through designer merchandise, a mom-friendly store layout and exceptional customer service. It's nice to know many of the staff members are moms themselves and they know how important it is for the mommy clientele to have a versatile wardrobe.

olive pants and more

The merchandise is quite exceptional as well.  If you are a mom that cares about looking good and being comfortable at the same time, then you will have no problem shopping at Hot Mama. The store carries everything you need including; jewelry, scarves, handbags, cork wedges, wide legged linen pants & trousers, dresses, sweaters, jeans by Hudson and cropped jeans by Kut from the Kloth.  They also carry metallic tanks, regular tanks, shorts, blouses and jackets.  Current trends can be found in many of the dresses and blouses including those in floral, geometric and animal prints.  If you dig the color blocking trend, there are loads of bright solid colors to choose from as well.

Another plus is the store is kid friendly.  While you shop, the kids can play with toys, video games and eat animal crackers in the play area located in the middle of the store.  It's been known that the kids sometimes have a hard time leaving because the experience for them is so enjoyable too.  I thought this was great news because we all know a happy kid is a happy mom.

Hot Mama store hours are Monday through Saturday 10am-9pm and Sunday noon-6pm, the store located on Village Main, just south of Festival Park.

vohr_spring_showThe Village of Rochester Hills Spring Fashion Show at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester, Michigan featured new Spring arrivals from ten retailers of the Village of Rochester Hills.  The main focus on the runway were individual retail Spring arrivals and trends. Many of the ensembles displayed pastels, flower patterns, color blocking trends, trench coats, colored jeans and fun accessories. Each of the retail stores involved in the show had its own Spring flair. A bonus show by fiber artist, fashion designer and celebrity stylist, Cynthia LaMaide, wowed the crowed by starting the show (which she also styled) with her hand-made collection. Each piece was made by Cynthia herself specifically for the Rochester show.

The show reported to have over 300 attendees and proceeds benefitted The Women’s Fund of Rochester, a local non-profit organization. Ten stores from the Village displayed their take on Spring by displaying current trends such as floral prints, color blocking, pastels, trench coats, colored capris and sporty basics. The lobby of the Royal Park Hotel, was decorated with beautiful fashions from the mall’s retailers as singer Olivia Millerschin entertained guests upon their arrival and during the Champagne & Chocolate reception.
